  • Pretty disappointed with this new Menchie's. They have a very limited selection of froyo flavours compared to other locations, and the flavours that are available are pretty tame. But the beauty of self-serve frozen yogurt is the toppings bar that can spruce up even the most boring of yogurt flavours...unfortunately, this Menchie's also has the worst toppings selection and customer service I've ever encountered. The actual yogurt flavours I chose were Nutella, mint and something else that I can't even remember, it was just that unmemorable. The actual process of trying the different flavours was the first hint that this wouldn't be an enjoyable visit. Menchie's employees are usually ready to provide sample cups to customers, and they do it with a smile. The guy working the cash register (the owner maybe?), who was also the only person inside the otherwise empty store, wasn't even looking at us, so I had to walk right up beside him to ask for cups. He gave me one, so I had to ask for more since I came with my family. When I went to choose my toppings, I was completely underwhelmed. I'm used to seeing multiple boba flavours, tons of fruits and dozens of other chocolate, candy or mochi toppings. The fruit selection consisted of large cubes of pineapple, coronation grapes (unexpected), canned mandarins and maraschino cherries. The pineapple pieces were so big that four cubes would cover the whole top of the Menchie's bowl, so I didn't get any. I was very disappointed that the usual strawberry and kiwi toppings were not available. I settled for a few coronation grapes, lychee boba (the only flavour available) and blue mochi (also the only one available). We came to try this Menchie's location because we had a few coupons that were time limited according to the text on the coupons...but there was no date printed. The employee said the coupons were still good, so we used one. Each coupon was different (e.g., 1. buy one and get one half price, 2. get 20% off, etc.), but we figured out before paying that one would yield the most savings. The cashier insisted that we were wrong, so he tried to get us to pay using a different coupon. When the cash register showed a price that was higher than we expected to pay, we asked him to use the coupon we wanted to use in the first place. He started complaining about how he can't keep voiding items on the cash register, as if it was our fault that he insisted on using the wrong coupon. In the end, we saved a bit of money by using the coupon that WE wanted to use. Thanks, Menchie's guy. You made this visit an absolute pain and we ended up with partially melted frozen yogurt because you took so much time to complain about using the coupons. In addition to their poor selection of toppings and yogurt, the spoons here aren't even Menchie's spoons, just plain clear plastic spoons. Just FYI, in case you have kids who seem to like the colourful spoons even more than the frozen yogurt. I'm not planning to come back to this location after this experience, but hopefully this guy was just having a bad day. I'm giving two stars because, hey, Nutella frozen yogurt is always pretty good, even if the cashier is angry and the toppings suck.
