| - Unabashed pup-a-philes like me will fall in love with this place. Yes, I'm one of those people, who say hello to every dog, and stick my hand out, in the hopes that your pups will shower me with doggie kisses. Fortunately Canadians are obliging in this manner, and love to have strangers pet their pooches. Even more fortunate was us stumbling upon this place and finding out they have dog shows in the stage all the way in the back. No, it's not Schutzhund level, but you will be enchanted by pups doing relay races, running obstacle courses and showing off their training. And the best part of the show was at the end, when the owner/trainers allow you to interact, pet, massage their pups. Oh, it was heaven.
This is actually a store that has a smoothie café on the side, information on dogs and cats, with kitties up for adoption in the glass room up front(don't knock on the glass and scare the cats, though). I believe if you want to adopt, the staff will allow you to interact with the cats. There seemed to be a glass walled room on the side for that, with small chairs. The store sells all things dog and cat related, toys, collars, food etc, along with pet training(don't even try with cats, expect to be their slave for life). Anyone of any age is welcome if you are fond of dogs and cats, and of course, your four legged friends are warmly received too. There's a great deal of information on dog breeds, and for all the traffic, the place was clean. And of course, they host dog shows. We came for the Canada Day weekend, so three shows were on Sunday. Check the website to see when the shows and events are for any other time. The dog and cat statues outside are a favorite with tourists and locals alike. A fun place that I would frequent if I lived in Toronto.
