| - A good store, just don't expect to be valued as a customer.
I was a weekly regular at Midoco until the day I tried to return a $12 box of envelopes - too small for a particular purpose, never opened. I'd already driven by the week before and picked up the correct size and now wanted to return these. They refused. They knew me, knew I was a regular, saw the box was unopened, but I didn't think to keep the receipt for a box of envelopes I didn't expect to have any issues with. They also said it didn't matter whether or not I had the receipt because I'd bought them more than a week or two ago, and their policy says therefore no refund or store credit.
I did give them the opportunity to turn me back into a happy customer - I sent a note on their website and tried to get a response through their Twitter feed, but no one ever responded to either. They really just don't care.
I support local, independent stores rather than chains at every opportunity, but when service lacks both common sense and a personal touch, and you can find a better return policy at the Dollar Store across the street, Midoco becomes irrelevant fast. The same thing happened once with a kitchen shop on Front and I saw last month they're now closed for good. If Midoco's management can't be bothered to treat customers with a little consideration, I'm sure they'll reach the same conclusion too.
