| - AVOID THIS COMPANY IF YOU CAN. I found some boots my husband wanted by accident on this company's website. Has been unable to find them elsewhere, because they had been discontinued. Was initially happy. However, now I can say I am appalled. Am used to better (more updated) service in these dates of LL Bean, Amazon, Zappos. Customer service person upon placing order was semi-rude; told me there was no way to give me the amount for shipping. I asked her for an e-mail confirmation and she said she'd send it; she did not. Sending an e-mail is not common for them apparently, so she just never did; overall I felt like I was dealing with a company from the 50's. When I didn't get a confirmation e-mail i called to check in and make sure the items had shipped; I also asked the freight amount. It was $34! I am shocked and horrified. I expressed my dismay; this new semi-rude person said this was cheap for them, and that they had people way up north in Canada that has their products flown in, and paid $100 for shipping, and they were happy to get them. I said if I lived in a far out location like that, I would understand it, but I don't. Had I known this we would simply have found another pair of boots for my husband (and ordered elsewhere). Talked to the customer service manager, who told me she had no authority to give me either a credit for part of the freight (I requested 50/50 share), or a discount on what I had been charged. Having the authority to make adjustments like this is something that I have found very common in more updated companies. So if the power to do it, which these people do not seem to be given. Or maybe they just don't care. I was told I was not allowed to talk to a higher manager. The behavior I experienced with this company is indicative of a poorly run one; God help you if you run into any issues and need assistance. I feel their communication (or lack thereof) during entire process was very poor. If they could not tell me how much it was to ship, they should have given me an estimate, if it was going to be high like $34. And they clearly do not give a darn about their customers. I will write a letter to the president of this company; I would hope someone on that level would be concerned about their reputation, and about getting repeat business. The people lower down in the company clearly do not care or are not empowered to care. Order elsewhere.
