| - We called General Tire on Monday and asked if they carried a specific tire in the size needed for our car. They didn't, but said they we're happy to order them and have them available on Wednesday. Given that tire dealers seem to only be open during business hours (making it a pain to go to one if you have a 9-5 job), we planned to drop off the car in the morning, take off the afternoon from work and pick it up before 4 pm. Sounds reasonable, right?
My boss gave me the afternoon off, and we were all set with arrangements for drop off/pick up. To make sure we'd make it to work on time, we woke up early, drove to General Tire, parked the car in the gravel lot, and ran in to drop off the keys.
I tell them who I am and the tires I had ordered, and I get a blank stare.
Him: "Are you sure you ordered them?"
Me: "Yes, you told me you would order them and have them ready today. I took off work so that I could pick them up this afternoon."
Him: "We don't have your tires. There must have been a misunderstanding."
Me: "You said you would order them on Monday and have them ready by today, and that I could drop off my car in the morning and pick them up this afternoon. You even gave me a quote of $130 per tire, which I agreed to. What is the misunderstanding?"
Him: "We didn't order them. I can order them now, but we won't have them in today."
Me: "I already took off work this afternoon, so I think I'll try somewhere else."
Him: "k."
Replacing tires is a two step process. 1. Order Tires. 2. Place tires on car. General Tire couldn't figure out step one, and didn't bother with any sort or apology, effort or reasoning as to why they wasted my time.
I came to General Tire because of it's flawless reviews. It's a shame that I'll have the be the first one to give them a negative review, but they've earned it.
