I'll start with the positives. The location is in a great area with other decent restaurants/pubs/gelato places and yet secluded enough to get you away from the busy streets of downtown Toronto. The staff is super friendly and it seems like they really want to be there and serve you in the best way possible. It is also super cool to watch them make your "ice cream". The product in itself tasted good. I felt the value wasn't there but I got to see them make it so I didn't mind
Now on to the negatives. As many reviews here suggest, the line ups are crazy. We got there Sunday afternoon at 1730 and didn't order it until 1850. Got our dessert at 1905. Was it worth the 1.5+ hour wait? I don't think so. Don't get me wrong. It wasn't the staff that was the problem. It was the lack of organization and efficiency. It is a start up so things like these are expected but there NEEDS to be a manager/in-charge there at the busiest times so that the owners can realize that they'll start losing customers if they don't do something about the utilization of their staff. They only had two cold plates on for a big line up in a Sunday when they could've had four of them operating. I saw as many as 7 people behind the counter and at one point only four (max 5) were working or doing something. Again, I want to stress the fact that it wasn't the staff. I think it was a lack of management initiative to train the staff properly for utilization. I won't go there again if the lineup to get an ice cream is an hour and a half long.
I'll probably get some heat for saying the negatives in the review but I mentioned them because I really wish that they're successful and a business that loses customers because of a lack of efficiency isn't gonna be successful. Just my two cents.
