  • I needed a space helmet, or more specifically, my husband needed a space helmet. No, I am not planning on launching him into space. It's a vision we had for a photo shoot, and no, not that type of photo shoot. Okay, this is hard to explain, but he needed a helmet. We thought a costume shop would be the obvious answer, but after scouting the options available, we decided perhaps a straight up motorcycle helmet would be cheaper and cooler. We descended upon Cycle Gear on a quest for some "out of this world" head protection. The store is much bigger than I anticipated, and hence, I would say they have a great selection. They had an entire wall covered with a wide variety of motoring helmets at a wide range of price points. We scoped the inventory for a while before a helpful associated asked if we needed some assistance. I appreciated the non-pushy approach. We told him we were looking for a space helmet, and he didn't even laugh, really. We were able to find a helmet sufficiently space looking for around $60, and the entire experience was pleasant. I would definitely go here if I were in the need of cycle gear or space accoutrement.
