I took my car into Firestone Auto Repair on 44th Street & Thomas to check out an oil leak and I was told my lower oil pan had a small gasket leak and that my oil cooler was leaking as well and would need a new $149 assembly kit bringing the repair estimate total to $769. I called my brother and he told me to take it to his mechanic... Ken's Auto Repair. I was a bit hesitant because I live in S. Scottsdale and they are located in Peoria, but trusting my brother, I made the trek and I'm so glad I listened to him!! As it turns out, I only needed an O ring for the oil cooler and since the oil leak was the lower pan and not the upper pan, the labor cost is significantly less. I believe Firestone was trying to rip me off, perhaps because I'm a woman, perhaps not... maybe they do that to everyone... either way, my total cost out the door with Ken's was $288, a savings of $481. These guys are very professional, honest and I must add that it was one of the cleanest mechanic shops I've ever been in so you know they take pride in what they do and how they represent themselves. It doesn't matter if I moved to Queen Creek, AZ... I would still take my vehicles there!
