I just had my 4th TMJ procedure yesterday, actual surgeries since leaving AZ TMJ and Dr. Farrell. It was a bilateral TMJ arthroscopy, in hopes of visualizing the extent of the damage to my TMJ and discs. Dr. Farrell's maxillofacial splints did not help my case, in fact they made my condition far worse. I now will require a possible open TMJ surgery and possibly a full joint replacement. Initially my case was far too complex for Dr. Farrell to treat, in my opinion. Still, he attempted to treat me anyway. I was put in not 1, but 2 splints, top and bottom, that I wore 24/7 for 9 months straight. I was never out of pain during treatment and even went through a few rounds of facial injections in conjunction with the splints. Obviously this result is not applicable to ever patient, as he seems to have helped many. I am saddened by the care I received and have every right to let more people know about my experience. Be cautious and don't go with just one opinion because you are helpless and in pain. Tough it out and find the right Dr. for your case.
