| - When the time it takes me to get dressed is longer than the time it takes me to get my car registration renewed, that's a great thing!
Thanks to the Nevada DMV online appointment service called Dash Pass, the Nevada DMV uses my cell phone number to track my place in line and send me text messages (or phone calls, my choice) to keep me updated and call me to the local Nevada DMV office / window of my choosing.
For those without a cell phone, the Nevada DMV can check you in with numbers or letters from your name.
NOTE:
Total time to make a NV Dash Pass appointment, including receipt of text confirmation - 1 minute
Total time spent at the NV DMV office to renew my car registration - 5 minutes
This effficient and effective appointment service is a far, far, far cry from the California DMV service that I last used, where even if you made an online appointment and printed out your confirmation number, you still had to check-in at the local CA DMV office that you chose, then be given a number, then wait for your number to be called.
The last time I had to make this appointment in California, those who did not make an online appointment were called ahead of me. Go figure.
NOTE:
Total time to make an online CA DMV appointment, including printing of confirmation - 5 minutes
Total time spent at the CA DMV office to renew my car registration - 65 minutes
