The sad condition of many of the exhibits including the lack of interactive equipment sharing what you're viewing, makes one wonder if a huge infusion of cash or overhaul is needed. While some of the animals exhibits will still steal the hearts of children and there are some nice enclosures, there is also a lot of evidence of the need for repair or uograding. Lou Lou the rhino is a new addition and they're cleaning and improving some of the sections.
There are discounted tickets for the summertime but don't expect your senior discount for those over 60 to be applied---they only permit one discount, so even though summer rates are not truly "discounted" that's how they roll.
The other noticeable part of the zoo experience is all the add-on charges once you get inside. So, bring a full wallet or you'll want to forgo the camel ride, giraffe encounter and much more.
