| - I am a loyal Best Western customer. I turn to Best Western whenever I'm in a new or unfamiliar area because I trust the brand. When I flew into Vegas on short notice last month, I decided to book the Best Western near Mccaran based on that trust. I could not have made a worse choice.
When I first got my room, I was surprised to find it was on the main floor just off the lobby. It appeared to be a specialty handicap accessible room which wasn't that big a deal except the bathroom was set up strangely and the shower sprayed directly onto the bathroom floor. It wouldn't have been my first choice but I didn't think it was that big a deal.
Things got worse as I explored my room though. It is never a good sign when a hotel provides earplugs along with toiletries. I guess I should have anticipated it but the noise from the airport was insane. Every time a plane went past the windowpanes shook and the floor vibrated. It really didn't matter though. Because my room was so close to the front desk, I could hear everything the receptionist said. I could hear every time the phone rang, a guest arrived, or the staff laughed. It was awful.
I finally got to sleep in the wee hours of the morning when the lobby was at least a little bit quieter. It didn't last long though. At 5 am, the staff started cooking breakfast and lo and behold, the kitchen was right next to my room. Between guests talking, staff laughing, and pots and pans banging, I knew i wasn't getting any sleep so I decided to go to breakfast.
The breakfast was a pitiful spread of stale cereal, canned fruit, and powdered eggs. Even the most innocent looking pastries were old and dry. I finally gave up and decided to eat elsewhere.
When I checked out, I mentioned all of the above to the staff member checking me out. He only acknowledged the noise complaint and his response was "yeah that isn't the best room." Really?
This was one of the worst hotel stays of my life. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else.
