We enrolled our 2 children in this school with high hopes because it seemed like a good school that offered a lot for the money. Our 5 year old son struggled during the first 5 weeks of School as a Kindergartner and got written up in his reports for making noises and having an altercation when he was hit by another kid and punched him back in the face. Our son was not perfect, but he was by no means a terror child. When he hit the other kid, he was sent to the principals office. I understood all of this as the policies and procedures made sense. I was actually wondering when we would get a called into the office to talk about his problems so we could work on them at home. I also expected that at some point he may get suspended and we would have to have a serious talk with him.
5 weeks into the school, I show up and pick him up from aftercare and I am told that he is in trouble and has been sent to the principal's office. I head over and find out that he had a razor blade on him. He also had a couple screws and some pieces of plastic that he had collected. I am told by the school that he needs to go home and not come back until they have time to discuss his behavior with the people of power at the school. On Monday, I get a call from the principal and I am told that they have talked and he has been expelled! Are you kidding me? You are going to expel a 5 year old for possessing a razor blade that he didn't do anything with? We don't even know where she got it from. Might have been found on the school, we don't know. What I do know is that most schools have a process and they give the owners the chance to work with their kids to resolve problems.
This school took our money and abandoned our son and our family the first chance they had. It's obvious they want a bunch of perfect children running around their school but we all know kids face challenges and sometimes they make mistakes.
I'm upset. I'm frustrated. I feel bad for my son and I want to make sure that other parents know our experience before they enroll in this school.
