| - ** I am adjusting this review because I realized it was the blow-dry, and not the haircut, that i liked. A few days later, I realized he put too many layers in for my fine hair and now it wisps and turns in every direction. I just booked an appointment at my own salon just six weeks after this cut (and I usually go 3 months between cuts).
I bought this as a Groupon deal with my friend (wash, cut, style and manicure for $24) tax and tip extra.
Haircut: (by Eric) Good blow dry. Cut was average. Didn't grow out well.
Service: Really good.
Free drink: Great!
Manicure: Not impressive. Just a polish change.
It's nicely decorated, new and easy to get to by subway. I was immediately greeted by a friendly receptionist who was sweeping up and stopped and smiled and directed me to where my friend was waiting. We did have to wait around a little, but with comfy chairs and a complimentary drink in my hand, I was happy.
I didn't need a wash because I'd just showered, so I just got my hair wet and went for the cut. Eric did a good job. He really listened to me, gave me a very flattering look and a nice blow-dried style. My friend had her hair cut by a different woman and it also looked great.
The "manicure" was disappointing. One woman started filing my nails and then stopped so i could start my hair.
When I came back to get my full manicure, a different woman "served me." The woman (dark hair, pale, olive skin) was pretty rude, not chatty or smiley. She started by taking calls on her phone and ignoring me. Complained about my cuticles, but then didn't apply cuticle cream, push them back, clip them or anything. No hand scrub. Just filed my nails some more and applied a new coat of polish (and then instead of putting "top coat" on, she used "base coat" I kept asking her why and she didn't really explain. My nails were totally chipped the next day. OPI doens't usually do this. I'm guessing it's because she used an off-brand base coat instead of a good quality hardening top-coat.) But my friend had the same manicurist and thought it was fine.
