  • Just searched brunch in spring valley and this place popped up. From the reviews it seemed pretty awesome. Walked in but no one was at the host counter. Waited a long while, and finally a waiter came over and sat us. No big, wasn't very busy but there was a really large party. We sat and got drinks and ordered pretty quickly from there. Then, the wait. I believe we waited around 30-40 minutes for the food to come. They did apologize for the wait and said the kitchen was behind due to the large group, which I get. But that was also like 30 minutes into waiting for the food to come. About 10-15 minutes later, our food arrived. I ordered chicken fried steak from the brunch menu, and my partner ordered a shrimp poor boy sandwich and a side of corn bread. The chicken fried steak had burnt edges on one side, the other side was fine. It was pretty tough itself. The biscuits underneath it were pretty hockey pucks - seriously hard to cut through with the butter knife provided. Super chewy too. Flavor was fine though. Then the gravy....it was alright, nothing special, not super creamy either for country gravy. It also had that look of having been sitting out a while too, the gravy had settled and had that plastic sheen dried on top of it. Whole thing was barely still warm. Definitely a kitchen timing issue after having to get out the meals for the giant group. The shrimp poor boy was alright, nothing special but not bad either. The highlight of the meal was the cornbread actually. It was good, even without butter (it doesn't come with any, so ask I guess if you like to put some on your bread). Really disappointed with the food. =\ All in all, it's a pretty restaurant that's decorated nicely and the waiter was fine, but the wait and cold/burnt food with the rubber biscuit puck was just....not very good. =\ Menu really sounds great too, I would have liked to try some other things, but I probably wouldn't go back.
