  • So we checked out the Butterfly Wonderland today and I will say it is fairly cool and should be a nice addition to the many attractions in the greater Phoenix area for kids/families. Cons - Price. Prices seem high. We actually ended up buying the lifetime membership (I know, I know, suckered into it! HA!), but considering our kids are small, it should easily pay for itself. But for a small family for the daily admission, it is easily $50, which to me seems like a lot. It is also EXTREMELY humid in the butterfly exhibit. I read other reviews saying it was humid, but dang, it is HUMID. Like so misty in there that you can't see across the entire exhibit since it is so foggy. This isn't necessarily a con or a bad thing, just be prepared. Don't bother showering or doing your hair. ;) Pros - The 15 min long 3D butterfly movie is fairly cool. Fun to watch the smaller kids all reaching out to "touch" the butterflies during the movie. They also have a room with various stages of cocoons and you can even watch butterflies emerge if you are patient enough. The butterfly room, although humid, is very beautiful. The exhibit will be better as the plants grow in, but overall pretty well done already. The volunteers/people answering questions in the exhibits were friendly and helpful. They also have a small room with some ants, scorpions and bee exhibits. Interesting, but nothing nearly as exciting as the butterflies. They also have room with various fish tanks and an open tank for petting/touching sting rays. There is definitely some newness/growing pains since they recently opened, but I think once this is worked through, it will be well worth everyone to at least check it out once. We were there about 2 1/2 hours and it was definitely a nice relief from the 110 degree heat outside (even with the humidity!)
