| - We purchased 2 Groupons for $25 each for a full day of the Hop on - Hop off Big Bus Tour. I believe they're regularly $44 each, so a pretty good deal.
I've been to Vegas many times and seen most of the highlights of the Strip, but my SO hasn't and since we had limited time this trip, I thought this would be a good way to get an overview of everything while also dropping us off conveniently at all the locations where we had booked other activities or reservations for meals. And it was.
Our tour guide (Le Shawn?) was very high energy and great with passing out the coupons for drinks and food at each stop. And I got to see things that I have never taken time out to see - like the Welcome to Las Vegas sign, which is frankly a bit out of the action, you know?
So yes, it's super touristy but we also found it to be a good deal because it got us between casinos without walking miles (you still walk a TON in Vegas regardless, but this saved some of that) and we were able to see some places off the strip that we probably would never venture to. It's a pretty smart way to make transportation to each of your planned destinations more fun and informative. Of course, buying the Groupon is a must to make this really worthwhile.
One thing I didn't love... the Groupon is only good from 10 AM to 6 PM... I'm not sure if the bus runs later but one of the tour staffers at a stop told us that because we used Groupon, our ticket was only good until 6 PM. And of course me being such a super organized tour/task master, I had things scheduled well past 6 PM. So that isn't great - but another reason to make sure you get an early start and get your Groupon's full value!
We found the stops to be perfect for our itinerary and generally conveniently located. There wasn't anywhere we wanted to go that the Big Bus didn't stop at or near. So yeah, I highly recommend biting the bullet and playing tourist for a day... OH and don't forget to download the Big Bus app on your phone... let's you plan your trip easily with details about every stop - very helpful!
