Again a wonderful dining experience at Bistro La Bon, still my favorite Charlotte Restaurant Week spot! We made a reservation for 8p this time and we were seated right away, so nice we didn't have to wait 30 min like last time.
App:
Cucumber avocado soup- creamy and surprisingly layered with flavor. The cucumber his you right away followed by the creaminess of the avocado. Awesome job.
Beet salad- I love how this salad has evolved over time. There are so many new elements like the dried figs and apples. I was also glad to see a beautiful long line of goat cheese... Yummy!
2nd course:
Mussels- my fav of course! I wasn't too happy about a few of my mussels not opening but, oh well..still tasted amazing! Love that leek saffron broth, very flavorful.
Brie Brûlée- the bad loves this one. The chutney was a little too sweet again, I recommend spicing it up..
Entree:
Swedish meatballs- I loved how all the flavors came together in such a balanced dish. The meatballs were succulent, the mashed potatoes were creamy, the gravy had an earthy spice, and the lingonberry jam was a little sweeter than cranberry sauce. Very reminiscent of Thanksgiving! Lavender chicken- boneless! Chicken was cooked very well but I wish there was more curry sauce...
Dessert:
We were so stuffed we split a dessert and took one home. The famous bread pudding.. Also an evolving dish the added crumble was a nice texture. Wish they had given a little more vanilla bean ice cream.. Wasn't enough for the bread pudding size. Caramel is my favorite on this plate.
Always a pleasure here!
