I have been shopping here weekly for 12 years when they were sunflower. While it is still convenient and a great value for produce and bulk, I have had issues since the changeover that have been frustrating and have complained at least six times. People are friendly, caring and attentive but the issues remain. I have only had one rude worker in 12 years. Very friendly.
What I still like...
Cheap and (usually) fresh produce. I get whatever is in season and the prices and selection can't be beat. Since the changeover, a few times I didn't even bother to get the limp spinach and my cilantro seems to go bad the next day. They do seem to have the best avocados whereas other places sometimes never ripen nicely. Produce is always flavorful. Some prices are not as good as before. But still better than regular grocery and better quality.
The bulk section and nut prices. And those damn chocolate nuts they seem to always put on sale and now are a habit.
Meats can be pricey, but I started buying ground chicken and pork due to the crazy price of hamburger and making sliders from them for my freezer.
Their chip aisle usually has fun stuff to try for a good sale. A new bad habit.
-------------
What is making me very unhappy to the point I almost stopped shopping there.
They have a weekly block cheese special, only they do not wrap them properly and they mold before opened or expired. I took them back three times and spoke with manager about procedures. Well, it has molded prematurely 3 more times and I just don't want to gripe anymore. The cheese price is half price other places so I just cut off and eat and hey I like stinky cheese anyway so ... But I no longer buy extra because of shelf life.
They still carry their store made sausage links that have many creative flavors, but they used to have them on a super sale and I kept them for my hubby. They are never on sale anymore at the cheap price. So I don't get them.
I don't buy staples or other things here. Prices are too high and selection too little. No baked goods either. No frozen stuff. No dairy. Get my produce and bulk and get staples at smiths. While they have some fun stuff, not as much as trader joes or the cheese selection of trader joes.
