| - I've been a member of many gyms around Toronto (Extreme, Goodlife, Toronto Athletic Club, Wynn, Frog's, YMCA, Eclipse, etc).
I joined the Fitness Institute in March of 2013 and it's definitely at the top of my gym lists.
First off, it's an "Olympic High Performance Testing and Sports Medicine Centre". It's full facility, with a sports injury clinic, tennis courts, salt water pool, gym and also the Gary Roberts Gym (NHL hockey training centre). They also have various classes including master swim, yoga, tai chi, karate, spin, core fusion, pilates, etc.
Membership is expensive, but worth it when you factor in all the facilities. You can choose your level of access based on your interests.
Other than regular gym facilites, you do have access to a patio with a bbq, whirlpool, sauna, steam room, etc.
Reasons why i particularly love this gym is because it's a serious gym. People here work out here to get fit - it's not a meat market. My friend and i call it the geriatric facility because majority of the clientele are older. This is great because you don't have to really ever worry about access to a machine. You don't have groups of juice bags hogging 6 machines at a time. The place is never packed which also makes it a great added bonus.
The place is just moderately busy throughout the day. And as a bonus, it's open till 11pm during the week.
Also, I should mention that the personal trainers here are great and of a more professional calibre.
