Let me start by saying I was a huge Angels fan before spring training this year. After visiting 5 different parks now I can honestly say Tempe is the worst! I'll start off with the parking attendants. Yesterday I was going to watch the Angels practice, I asked the parking attendant if there was a place to park if we were just going to the practice area. Without prompting he said you park here and pay $5, if you leave before the game starts we refund you your money. I was surprised and happy they would do such a thing. What ended up happening was when I was exiting the parking lot, I kindly asked the attendant if it was possible to get my five dollars since I was leaving before the game. He proceeded to give me attitude and act like I was a cheap skate. I wouldn't have asked if they didn't mention it to me. Angrily, the attendant gave me my $5 dollars back while throwing a spanky. Now I have to deal with a pissed off motor cop because this interaction took 30 seconds and I messed up the traffic in his city. I just want to say this could have all been avoided if they just said sir it's $5 dollars to park here.
Another problem I have with the stadium is the way the ball fields are set up. There is little to no interaction with the players. The players have this walk way they go down and 75% of them go out of there way to ignore the fans and kids!!! I understand they are going to work but kids are a huge fan base. Angels players if your going to be arrogant pricks just take the golf cart down the back road like Scioscia.
I have to give props to CJ Wilson, Matt Shoemaker, Efren Navarro, Dino Ebel and Jerry Dipoto thanks for making a difference and talking to the kids.
In conclusion, don't spend your money in Tempe if your going for the Spring Training vibe. The arrogance of the Angels and the unhappy employees of the stadium make it frustrating. Go visit organization and fields that get it like the Brewers, Padres and Rangers. Those parks were all great experiences with great players and pleasant staff.
