I want you to know upfront how expensive this is, so you don't have to break your child's heart. I was really dismayed at how this place preys upon your wallet, and is not up front about it. My 7 yr old wanted to take a musical theatre class. It is her very first theatre class and she is super shy, so I was very supportive. When I signed up I knew there would be a registration fee ($35) and a monthly fee ($55.82). This seems to be the norm around here. But then I am told here is an audition fee of $60. I said if she doesn't audition what is she doing in the class that I am already paying? I'm told it's for a shirt too. If you want your own t-shirt it's another $30. Oh. Okay. So I go along with it because I want my daughter to have a great experience and this is what she wanted. About 2 weeks into the class there is a parent meeting for the auditions. In it I see there are additional fees. There is a fee for the big performance of $40, there is a Christmas show fee of $35, and there is a recital fee of $35. Who pays to be in their own recital? In addition, I am sure there is a fee for tickets probably about $20 per person for each separate performance. But that's not it folks. You have to pay for the costume that ranges from $88-$240. A chorus part cost $153. Also, if your child can't be in one of the shows or for any reason they need to recast that's another $200. By the end of all the fees I am paying a mint just for my child to be in a show. I just wanted her to have a learning experience. While I appreciate the professionalism that goes into the production/auditions, I just wanted a basic, fun musical theatre class. What happened to renting or making costumes? Why all the money? Shouldn't it be about learning and teaching and less about production? Needless to say, I personally feel this is taking advantage of parents who want to give their children everything. I pulled my daughter and explained to her the cost of this experience and that we would find something more suitable elsewhere. I hope to save you from that.
