| - I love a good diner! There are quintessential elements to a good diner that evoke that sense of nostalgia including vinyl bar stools, row of booths, open kitchen where you can see and hear food sizzling on the grill, delicious & cheap food, and bottomless cups of coffee. Add a friendly waitress that calls you Hon and you've got it all!
Diner food isĀ everyday comfort food and if it's done well then you're reminded of home. Well, Midnight Diner does it well! The outside of this diner is beautiful! There is Chrome Chrome and more Chrome! The inside of the diner is clean and visually stimulating with plenty of places to sit. You can sit at the counter in one of the vinyl stools or at one of the many booths.
They have a pretty extensive menu with so many good options. 9 pages of options to be exact! They even have a small selection of liquors and beer.
We ordered bacon, scrambled eggs, and toast with a side of fruit and the Shrimp and Grits. The first order was good but the star was the Shrimp and Grits. At the base of this dish are the creamiest grits that I have eaten in a long, long time! Like my Granny's! It's topped off with shrimp, pan sauteed vegetables, and a creamy homemade creole sauce. The portion was ample and I was completely full by the time I was done. I needed a nap! This dish was delicious from the first to the last bite! Karla, our waitress, was attentive and really sweet! The other staff were friendly and had a positive attitude despite having to work on Thanksgiving. I was a happy camper and plan on returning to this diner again!
