MRKT is a more upscale steak and seafood restaurant at the Aliante Hotel & Resort although there were several customers in very casual attire. The restaurant has great ambiance with contemporary décor, lush comfortable booths and a separate bar area with plenty of seating along with live entertainment. Since we made reservations we were promptly seated and our server introduced himself and told us the daily specials and provided a breadbasket that included pretzel &sourdough bread along with warm butter. Since we had dined at MRKT previously we were already prepared to order: for my birthday dinner I opted for the chilled seafood platter as my entrée while my Hubby selected a bone-in steak along with a baked potato and mac & cheese with bacon. Seeing that my Hubby prefers his steak well done we knew it was going to take a bit longer to cook but our server still checked in with us and made sure our drinks were refilled. We also had fun eyeing what other patrons had ordered and I must say the crab cakes looked delicious! We had bypassed appetizers as most of them were some sort of seafood which my Hubby doesn't eat and the non-seafood options just didn't appeal to him. When our meals arrived everything looked delicious. My seafood tasted fresh and not frozen and our server had brought me raw horseradish upon request. I did overindulge in the mac & cheese with bacon but that's kind of expected. Although my Hubby's steak looked well-done, after eating the outer portion of the steak the inner part was medium rare much to his dismay. Since we had other plans for the evening he muscled through it. After dinner our server brought over the dessert cart and much to our delight I was offered a free birthday dessert. Everything looked enticing but I opted for the strawberry cheesecake 'to go' as we were both very satiated. So with the exception of the under cooked steak and lack of non-seafood appetizers it was a very nice romantic dinner.
