| - Could not wait to try here after watching on youtube the DDD episode featuring Giuseppe's and have a mixed opinion of the place now that I've finally made it there. The appearance is as described. The place is tiny and the ambiance leaves much to be desired- especially for the type of food prices advertised. This place is a casual eatery with prices/attempts to try to be a gormet restaurant; falling somewhat short.
My wife and I started with the Bruchetta, the bread was nothing to write home about but the toppings were quite tasty and it was well done. She then had the pasta e fagioli soup, which was not quite what we were expecting. Everywhere else we had had this type of soup, the soup has a more rustic taste, perhaps some meat, a little cheese. This soup tasted like white beans and had no other depth to the flavor.
She had the lasagna and I the house specialty, a pasta with meat sauce. Her lasagna was very rich but the tomato sauce it was served with tasted as though it came from a can which was certainly very disappointing. My pasta was flavorful but again, nothing special. We had the cream brulee for desert which was tasty to me but again was nothing to write home about. For the prices, this restaurant was certainly not worth it.
To add to this restaurant's troubles, the facility can not handle their own limited business. We were offered garlic bread with our meal (which never actually came but was initially on the bill until I noticed it). The table next to us, had the wrong appetizer come out initially and also had one of the main courses come out with the entree. There was only one server who seemed at times overwhelmed with the degree of business at the restaurant. What did not help is there was a time where she literally stood near the kitchen speaking with the manager for about 10 minutes without moving while customers were waiting to be served, or in my case waiting to pay so we could leave.
If I do return, which is far from guaranteed, will be just for their signature dish(es) & will likely be as take out. In summary, the food was fair, but not worth the prices and the ambiance and service left much to be desired.
