  • I've been hiring contractors for several different jobs for my 17 year old house that I purchased recently. Those guys were okay to good most of the time because I don't set my expectation too high. But April Air Conditioning company kind of reminded me of the local businesses back home where they treated my problem as if it was their own. My A/C stopped working just around the time the temperature started hitting 98 degree. I called my crappy home owner insurance to send an engineer to take a look at it. He found out there was a hole in the compressor, and it needed to be replaced. However, the insurance company said that it was not cover because it was a factory defect. Naive me, I backed down so easily. So I thought if I had to pay out of my pocket, then I'd make sure to hire a good A/C guy and turned to Yelp reviews. My first pick was not April Air Conditioning, it was someone else. I called the company several times and left messages as the temperature was rising day by day. No return from it. So I desperately called April Air Conditioning after business hour, a lady answered and set up an appointment for the next day. She was very professional and polite every time I spoke to her. Next morning, Scott came by my house. I thoroughly explained what was going on with my A/C and the situation with home insurance. He took a look at it and called the insurance company's claim a none sense. If it was a factory defect, the A/C wouldn't have lasted 17 years. It was just due to aging. He suggested that I'd get an opinion from another A/C company too and fight the insurance company. Although the entire A/C system was very old, and soon I would have to replace all. But for now, a compressor could be replaced and A/C would work for a while with just a service fee of $60 to the home owner's insurance, he said. Because replacing the whole units would cost a lot, so it would give me time to save up until I'm ready. Also it's cheaper to do the job during winter time because labor and equipment will be cheaper. He explained to me. So he wrote a note for me to show to my insurance company that my A/C failed not due to factory defect but aging. At that time, I already decided that if I were to ask an A/C company to service my house it would be April Air conditioning. So next day, instead of calling my crappy insurance company, I call them and asked to replace the entire A/C equipment (outside unit, inside unit, coil etc). Scott had already explained to me about types of A/Cs that would suite my house. And I've got a quote which is $2,000-$4,000 cheaper than what my friends paid for their houses which were the same size as mine and larger. The owner himself came in with Nathan to do installation. They all were very polite and great to do business with. They have done more than just installing a new unit but redone the air ducts when he saw something was wrong with them. I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. I'm so glad my first pick didn't return my call. This was the best experience of mine with house service contractors I've ever hired. Very trust worthy people. Thank you very much.
