  • So I finally gave this overlooked place a try after some prejudiced hesitation fabricated by none other than my skeptic mind. But upon the recommendation of a Yelp friend and the positive reviews, I decided to find out for myself. The place is small with 4-5 tables, casual, laid back and clean. Staff are young and nice, pasta is freshly prepared behind the counter where you can clearly see the guy playing with the dough then making sheets out of it in the machine to be cut into different shapes and sizes later. Yeah, just like a grown up kid with Play Dough :) Had a lunch there and tried the tagliatelle con agnello which was the special of the day and not found in their regular menu. This changes everyday and it was recommended by the waiter. I was hesitating between that or a plate with no meat but with the good sales pitch and the assurance of the waiter that the lamb won't give off that nasty "lamby" maaa maaaa icky smell/taste and also seeing 3 plates of this landing on the table next to me, I told the waiter let's do it... and make it extra spicy. The plate comes and looks good. As usual, I try a cube of the braised lamb first in there to make sure it doesn't stink and yessss, it didn't. The rest of the ingredients in there were just fine also, nicely put in terms of freshness, correct sauce quantity and overall taste. I asked it to be extra spicy and it's like the waiter knew my sweet spot of spiciness level for that plate without going over or under it. Good job. Overall rating of the plate is 5/5 so is the price which was only $10 plus tax. You'll get a plate of pasta (some sauces are $3 extra), fresh bread and a bottle of water. Not too bad for a nice and healthy lunch. Definitely I'd go back to try their other plates. I can tell they'll be all good as well. Having said that, I won't leave it there without adding a few of my observations and in a hope that they'll be taken as a constructive criticism just to help the owner make the experience a little more pleasant hence enlarging his client base. In my opinion: 1)- They should have a simple menu with pictures to facilitate the choice of visual people who usually like to see the pic of what they'll consume instead of reading the titles of the plates on the walls with no prices. I don't know, yes their menu is simple but I felt a bit awkward turning my neck 180 degrees to read what the menu is on the wall and which took me a while to decide in that position. Plus it'd look more professional by avoiding the embarrassment of asking the waiter how much is this or how much is that. 2)- Lower the volume of the music just a tad which was coming out of a big speaker parked only three feet away from my table. This felt a bit intruding. May be install some speakers on the ceiling and set the volume to a level that it feels like a background music? 3)- Some salt and black pepper shakers on the tables perhaps? None of the tables had these standard items. 4)- Please remove the $1.50 water bottle handwritten on the other menu. Yes I wasn't charged for it but I think water should be a standard thing in a restaurant also. Giving customers bottle water instead of tap water, is the owner's choice which should be free. Again, an overall nice place for a very good and healthy pasta dishes. Keep up the good job guys!
