The church itself is lovely. Wonderful architecture and a stunning courtyard. The masses I've gone to have been good. The songs are upbeat and put me in a great mood after leaving mass.
However, I went to Confession today with Rev. Adam Kotas. I was traumatized! I'm trying to confess my sins and he won't let me talk. He wanted to make small talk first. Out of nowhere he asked me if I've ever had an abortion. I told him no. I go on to try to confess my sins and he asks me again if I've ever had an abortion. I said no. Nearing the end of my confession time, (after being reprimanded for not being married in the Catholic Church and not wanting kids) he asked a third time, so you've never had an abortion. I said no. He said that's great. I get up trying to get as far away from this man as possible and at the door Rev. Kotas says, "Remember, God is in me. I am God" (pointing to himself). "God wants you to have kids."
I was in shock! My aunt went to confess after me. She told me that Rev. Kotas also asked her if she had an abortion. My aunt is 61 years old!!!
I honestly felt disrespected that because I'm a woman of a certain age without children that I must have had an abortion. I truly felt that he was evil in sheep's clothing. This has made me want to stop going to mass at St. Joseph's. I doubt I will go back.
