This brand new Dairy Queen is in the building that used to be the closed Long John Silver's, next to the Bank of America on Southern and McClintock. I took my 5 year old granddaughter here for a hot June afternoon treat.
The redo of the building is very modern and nice. In addition to booths there are love seats and comfy stuffed chairs with mini tables for your ice cream. Everything is clean and new.
I ordered a medium chocolate dip cone (a blast from my childhood past) for around $2.50 and it was just as I remembered it. My granddaughter wanted strawberry ice cream, but they don't have any, so the counter guy suggested a strawberry sundae (around $3.50) and it was AWFUL. She started out OK with her eating a little bit of the vanilla ice cream, but as soon as she tasted the strawberry topping she would not eat anymore, claiming that it was horrible. I tasted it and she was right. The strawberry topping was like a super-sweet strawberry jam. When a 5 year old tells you something is too sweet, then you know this is not a good thing. We threw away about 90% of her sundae and decided that we would not be coming back here for ice cream treats in the future.
