  • There's only 1 other Sushi restaurant in AZ that can compete with the quality and culinary perfection that is Dozo. Robert, the owner, having previously been the head Sushi chef for "the other" Sushi restaurant, brings years of experience, discipline, and authentic Japanese dishes to the table here. Couple that with high quality fish, and generous portions, and you're left saying to yourself, "I'm not going anywhere else for Sushi from now on!". The staff is very knowledgeable of the menu and are very accommodating and friendly. I've had the pleasure of dining at this fine establishment at least 25 times, and each time (including the first!) myself and the party I arrive with are treated with respect and courtesy. Personal favorites of mine are the grilled lamb chops, yellowtail, escolar, and salmon sashimi, ikura, and hamachi kama (I'm a big fan of "real" Japanese cuisine!). Because the fish is flown in and therefore fresh, the "fishiness" that you get at other low-grade, low-quality "sushi" restaurants isn't there! The fish tastes fresh, because it is! The rolls are good too! I drive 35 minutes each way to enjoy Dozo, and there's a plethora of competition to chose from as I'm en route. Even if I was an hour away, I'd still make the bi-monthly trip to Dozo. Overall, having eaten Japanese food from all around the country, including many so-called "best-of's" in California, I'll still keep Dozo with the best of the best in the business!
