  • When we checked into the Westin Kierland Villas, Erica at the front desk could not have been unfriendlier, which is the last thing you would want after a long flight and first impression of the hotel. There was some confusion about what name one of our three reservations were under, which took 15 minutes to figure out. We asked for 2 of the 3 rooms to be connecting rooms, and were told they were connecting. Of course when we got to the rooms they were not connecting. When we went back to the front desk, we were told there were no connecting rooms of the type we had requested. It would have been nice to know the correct info before we drove to the villa, and brought our luggage and kids to the wrong room. No one apologized for the mistake at all. Someone at the front desk did eventually show us the different types of rooms. We ended up taking a large room and smaller room, so we could have connecting rooms. No one offered to help with our bags the first or second time around, or explain to us the property, and what there was to do. We had to request a crib FOUR times before one showed up. When we called the fourth time, and we told them we still didn't get the crib, they said "oh do you still need it!" The first day, our room was still not clean at 3pm. This is not the service I would expect from a Westin. The entire feel of the Villas is one that they are constantly trying to sell you a timeshare. When we got back to our rooms and saw a letter in the door, we thought maybe the manger had sent over drinks or a meal on the house for our inconvenience. Nope, it was an "offer" to come listen to a presentation on timeshare ownership. If they are trying to sell a timeshare you would think the service would be excellent. On the bright side and reason for 3 (almost 4) stars, the property is beautiful. The rooms were very clean, newly renovated, they have a washer/dryer, full fridge, balcony, new flat HDTV's. You really could stay here a week, and want to stay longer. The pools were great and of course the location is excellent, very walk-able. The golf course was very nice, as was the main Westin, which is a 7-8 min walk from the Villas.
