  • Basil is a really cool chic spot uptown. But just like Nicole say... $15 for Pad Thai! Really?????? Damn expensive in my opinion, but good. First the location... Corner of Church and 5th so yea parking can be a pain. If you can find a spot on the street go ahead, but why waste the time looking? $5 for valet and WELL worth it. Just valet the cars, and tip the fellas working. Walk into Basil and expect a nice classy restaurant. A small spot but plenty of seating. Bar area is pretty cool with very comfy seating. Nice decor all around and the staff is superb. Even when it was packed I was well attended to. I heard from numerous folks that the dishes were huge, and generally had enough for two. Not my experience, though I had take out. Let me just say, if your going to eat Basil... dine in. $15 for a Thai dish is ridiculous if your getting take out. What your paying for is the location and service. I will pay again, but I will dine in. The to go order was far smaller than any other Thai place Ive been to. Though the flavor here seemed to be top notch and probably... no is the best Pad Thai I've had. I wont order to go again, but I will dine in. So if you are uptown, like Thai food, want a nice restaurant, and better service... Come to Basil! Valet your ride! Don't get take out! Be forewarned, its good so its busy.
