| - This is going to be a long review, but I can't tell you how amazing Phelicia is in just a few words. Phelicia and I met in 2015, when I first moved to Las Vegas and needed a birth photographer. I was planning my first homebirth for my 3rd child, and I had decided that I wanted professional birth photos this time. She was so easy to connect with, and I was excited to have her join my birth team. When it came time for the birth, she was the first to arrive. Because she also worked as a doula, she was very familiar with the care side of birth and not just the photography side. She snapped some photos, but then she just knew I needed someone to get through contractions, so she put her camera down, and gave me hip squeezes. I am so thankful that she realized that at that moment, I needed a doula more than a photographer, and she was so quick to switch roles. After the rest of my birth team arrived, she resumed her role as my photographer. I never even noticed her throughout the entire birth, she was so quiet and professional. Afterwards she stayed a little longer to snap a couple family photos that I had requested specifically, and even agreed to edit a couple that day so that we could use them for our announcement. Once I got back all of my birth photos (within a week, SO fast!), my husband and I looked through them and cried. They were beautiful. She captured so many things that wouldn't mean anything to anyone else, but meant to world to us. Somehow she just knew what was important to us!
When I got pregnant with my 4th child a year later, she was one of my first calls! This time, I decided to use her for maternity, birth, and newborn photos, as well as birth video. She gave me a great package price. When she did my maternity photos, she kept posing me in ways that I thought would never look good, they just felt so silly! But when I got my photos back, I couldn't believe how beautiful they looked! Those poses accentuated me in such a way that even at 37 weeks pregnant, I never felt more beautiful. She is SO talented! Her eye for detail is incredible. When it came time for this birth, I had a couple false alarms. But because I had a fast labor with my last baby, she knew to always make sure, so she came over 2 times before I actually even went into labor! She snapped photos and video both of those times too. When I actually went into labor, once again, she was so quiet and professional that I didn't even notice her. She edited some photos the same day again for us so that we could announce the birth. A week later, she came and did our family lifestyle/newborn photos. Even though our kids were rowdy and all over the place, she captured so many beautiful photos, I was impressed! I can never get a great photo of my kids, and she gave me like 60!
A couple weeks after the birth, I got my birth and newborn photos back, and again, so beautiful. Phelicia's photos just get better and better, and I really didn't think that was possible after the last birth! The photos were just stunning. I loved how she captured everything, as I gave her full reign on what she took photos of, and although we won't share the more graphic birth photos, we are so happy to be able to have those for our family and to be able to see those moments where our son first appeared.
Then, about 5 weeks after the birth, she sent me my birth video. I cannot even put into words how incredible it was. The moments she captured in time for us, will be treasured forever. My husband and I watched the video over and over again, and just cried. We wished we had one for every child. She even made us 2 videos, one with the baby crowning, and me pulling him out, and another that was just of the baby after he came out so that we could share it with friends and family. Even though we didn't plan to share the more graphic one with the world, we love that we have those moments on film for us to cherish forever. She just went over and above what I ever expected.
You will absolutely not regret hiring her! She will become the photographer that you compare everyone else to, and no one will measure up. I am honored to have had her capture so many beautiful and intimate moments in our lives, and even more honored to call her a friend.
