A long time friend of mine and I have been trying different coffee shops when we get together. I searched for one that was located midway between our homes and this is the one that came up. Being 4 1/2 stars and having great reviews makes it even more eye-catching. It is located in one of the strip shops in McCandless Crossing and the interior was decorated as most coffee shops are: chalkboard menu signs, tiered displays of baked goods, and lights dropping from the ceiling over the main counter and cash register.
Since I am not a coffee drinker, I always lean towards the chai latte. I ordered the 8 oz in a mug as my friend and I would be chatting for awhile. In addition, I ordered a blueberry muffin since I had missed lunch and my bill for just those two items was nearly $8! EIGHT DOLLARS. I guess I should have been more attentive on prices, although I did not see a label for the muffin - I should have asked. The chai seemed smaller than an 8oz (I'm sure it wasn't), and it was not the most impressive flavored chai I have had. I know this place is known for its variety of coffees but if they are serving other drinks, they should be just as tasty. Second, the muffin was dry and tasted as if it had been sitting behind the counter for several days. I was not impressed.
This coffee shop is not one I will return to, especially with the lot of them to choose from in the Pittsburgh area. Our adventures of trying different shops will continue elsewhere.
