Giving birth here was one of the worst experiences of my life. I feel like the staff went out of their way to make the process as miserable as possible.
When I was checked in, a nurse named Susan rolled her eyes at me every time I asked a question and was sarcastic every time she answered a question. If you don't have an answer there are polite ways to say so. Don't make me feel stupid for asking.
Next I was placed in triage for over three hours with no information about when I would get a room. This was one of the questions I asked Susan that got an eye roll. The triage staff were cold and unfriendly but not outwardly rude.
When I finally did get a room I had the sweetest and kindest nurse named Liegh (sp?) but only for an hour, then the real nightmare began.
We had another nurse named Susan. This Susan was massively overweight (I only note her weight in case someone at Presbyterian cares enough to read these reviews and wants to know who these horrible people are. The eye rolling Susan was average size and very old). This new Susan made an already confusing and anxious situation absolutely terrifying. Her rude remarks and uncaring demeanor set the stage for the rest of my stay in labor and delivery.
I wish I would had just left. CMC is just down the street and delivering in their emergency room couldn't have been worse than my experience at Presbyterian.
The nurses in recovery were great, especially Melody and we loved NP Judy Grubs (sp?). However, Presbyterian had arbitrary rules about pain medication. If you were asleep when the meds were due they wouldn't give them to you when you woke up, I had to wait for the next dosing time. I went without pain meds for 16 hours and was in terrible pain.
Also while we were here, they sent someone in to ask for money. We were current with all of our bills at the time and have never made a late payment so there was no reason to come in with their hand out. This is supposed to be a joyous time for people not a time to worry about money. We had the money and paid before we left but I'm sure some people might have a hard time coming up with $3000 (or whatever their bill is) on the spot. I just thought it was tacky.
I certainly won't come here for the birth of my next child and my family and I will switch to CMC for all further health care needs.
I do not recommend Presbyterian Hospital.
