  • The Memorial Union holds so many fantastic memories for students alum, and public. It's located off the shore of Lake Mendota on the UW campus. I love the summertime free movie series on the terrace; have a beer, a brat meet up with your friends and watch an outdoor movie. There's one every Week for the duration of the summer. My favorite was "UP" last year. If you aren't a student or alumni you can purchase a yearly membership which allows you to eat at the restaurants inside and to purchase alcohol at the concerts, movies, or other events held here throughout the year. The cost is $50/year community member, and $250 for a LIFETIME membership!! The Union has many ways to keep the environment protected for example, Wisconsin Union Initiates being green in these and more ways: Composting: Compost bins are being adapted at locations throughout Wisconsin Union restaurants, markets & All plates and to-go containers have been changed from Styrofoam to Nature Friendly biodegradable sugar-cane bagasse products. Receipt Reduction Program: Receipts are only printed for necessary Local Food Options: Breads and bakery items are made locally. Produce is purchased from local farmers during their growing season. The Terrace is where you'll find those famous sunshine chairs too... Come to the Union; it's especially fun in summertime! You're gonna love this place.
