  • A bit of a funny story of how I got Uncle Tetsu for free and 0 minute wait. I was eating breakfast at Eggsmart Diner across the street at 7 AM on a Saturday morning and saw a guy with a bunch of Uncle Tetsu cheesecakes. Having never had the cheesecakes before, I struck up a conversation with him and to find out that he is the Managing Director of Uncle Tetsu Malaysia, here in Toronto to scout out the new store. He offered me the cake and needless to say, I accepted. Now, onto the actual cake itself, and I must say it was a little anti-climatic. The texture was really soft, fluffy and with just enough warmth, but it wasn't amazing. Having grown up in Asia, I was already used to this kind of cheesecake, and it didn't feel like anything new. With novelty out of the question, the taste only elicited a nonchalant nod. Moral of the story- Despite not having to wait or pay for the cheesecake, I would still say that it was "alright". Is it worth waiting 1 hour? Other than bragging rights, probably not.
