| - Decent Thai, though overpriced and a lot of attitude at the door.
When we arrived we saw a hostess desk with one person standing there punching on a computer keyboard and occasionally picking up a telephone but not saying anything on it. Listenting to messages maybe? Anyway, she kept doing this for awhile before she finally decided to look up at me, acting somewhat annoyed. When I asked for a table for two, she responded with "you'll have to wait for the hostess" and went back to her keyboard. So this is definitely the hostess desk, there's no mistaking it, and she is the only one there.....but ok. We waited awkwardly for about 5 minutes when another woman walked up. Again we asked for a table for two, and she advised it would be about 20 minutes. Fine, we'll wait. We ended up waiting about 40 minutes, during which time, one or the other of the two came up and asked for my name on at least 3 separate occasions. Talk about a short memory. We also saw several people walk up after us and then get seated while we waited.
What was the deal? Were we dressed too casually? I'm NOT the type to dress in shorts and a t-shirt to an upscale restaurant just because it's Vegas. We dressed up for Stripsteak the night before. But this was listed in the CASUAL restaurant category in Aria. On all of the hotel restaurant listings and on the Aria tv channel, they categorize the restaurants as either formal or casual, and this was casual. And it's not like we were that casual. I was wearing jeans and a polo type shirt. My wife was dressed failry nicely as she always does.
Anyway, once we finally got through the attitude at the door and were seated, the service was actually very good. The food was good, but nothing spectacular. Being from Los Angeles, we're used to good Thai food, and at 1/3 to 1/2 of the price here. If you live in a city where good Thai is hard to find, this might be a good spot to try, if you don't mind the attitude.
