| - Finally got to visit Lola's tonight for our date night. Made a reservation just to be sure. I'm glad the rain didn't stop us from coming over because this is an awesome little place!
It is very small. The tables were very close to one another, I could have stolen a few sweet potato fries from the couple sitting next to us :). Felt a little claustrophobic at first but every one was so nice, it felt homey after a while.
Now to the food . We had the broiled oysters and a cup of gumbo for starters. They were both pretty good although I still prefer my oysters raw. The hubby could not stop raving about the gumbo, he was reluctant to even give me a little taste. It was good, a little too spicy for me. For our entrees, I had the shrimp and grits and he, the crab cake plate. The grits was oh-so-creamy, so so good and the shrimps were cooked perfectly. I loved every bite although I thought the sauce/gravy was a little salty and that is where the sweet tea comes in to save the day. The crab cakes were beautifully presented. It was good but nothing special. We were both pretty full but I refused to leave without trying the banana foster bread pudding even ifI had to be rolled out of there(haha). It was amazing! The hubby, who dislikes desserts ate more than I did.
Our total bill with 2 beers and sweet tea is $77+ . Kinda expensive but we can't complain. Everything was good, the food was good, the servers were very accommodating, love the vibe and they even give military discount.
Verdict : We will definitely be back!
