I was recently in the car market and came across a pre-owned vehicle I liked. Being about an hour from my house I wanted to have the framework of a deal in place before going on a test drive. Their price at ~$25,400 was $650 more than I really wanted to pay for the year and milage of the car but I decided I'll offer them $24,600 online with the goal of meeting in the middle at $25,000 and I'd go out and pick up the car. The first 3 offers (over a 5 day span) I made were completely ignored. After a week the manager E-mails me touching base. I replied saying I guess my offer must've been offensive to them. He said he wasn't offended he just couldn't do it. Hey, it's your car and you can sell it for want you want but if you're going to ignore people who made offers at 97% of asking price and not even make a counter offer then good luck selling your pre-owned inventory.
Update: 8 weeks later and the car is still on the lot and the price is down to $24,707. Nice work morons.
