| - One of my old roommates from Cali was in town for work and wanted to hit up a brewery in downtown phoenix, so I asked around and consulted with the yelp community, and we decided to give Mother Bunch Brewery a shot for a Sunday Funday with the boys in downtown phoenix ....
None of us had ever been here before, but how can you not love the name? "Mother Bunch Brewery" ... So cool! ;)
If you look @ the picture of our bill we tried all sorts of appetizers, grub, and craft beers. For 5 guys eating and trying beers the bill total came to a mere $150, which I found to be verrrry reasonable! Everyone seemed to enjoy their food and beer for the most part ... I really enjoyed the Mac trio and my Tri-tip French dip sandwich. My old roomie from Wisconsin seemed to really enjoy it all. The other guys seemed to be pleased, but no one raved about their meals or the beer. I would say the food and beer was good/very good, but fell short of exceptional.
The key factor which sets this brewery apart from others is that this is a female owned operated brewery, which was cool to find out. Secondly, it has an extensive food menu that is not just your typical bar pub fare, and to be honest a lot of breweries have limited food or the equivalent of none at all. So if it's a matter of wanting a brewery with good quality food & drink? This is your spot!!
The service was alright - we sat @ the bar and it wasn't super busy, so I would always prefer when bartenders/servers step it up in situations like this ... I felt the bartender was good, but he could have been a bit more friendly considering the circumstances. The food and beer came out in a timely fashion, there were no slip ups, and everything tasted fine.
The vibe/ambiance in here is pretty chill and laid back - I like the look - it's a nicely decorated clean space and definitely has character. It was fairly easy to find just south off the 10 on 7th street. If it was busier I could see how parking maybe a problem though because the parking lot it's small and has limited spaces. If it was a Friday or Saturday night I would probably recommend taking an Uber/lyft here rather than stressing out about finding a place to park when it's 100+ outside.
Mother bunch brewery easily earned a solid 4 star review from me - everything that the 5 of us tried was good to very good and that's pretty amazing coming from 5 different people. I would absolutely come back if I was in the area and in the mood for beer and food, and I would definitely recommend this establishment to others as well!! ;)
