| - Well, the decent reviews for this place brought us here, but we weren't impressed. As I'm writing this, I'm teetering between 2 and 3 stars.
We came in for an early dinner and got pretty quick (albeit rushed, impatient) service, but the food wasn't great.
I ordered a glass of wine I knew was a dependable label, but it tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge too long after opening.
Our summer roll appetizer was okay, but the rice paper skin seemed tougher than I'm used to (another indicator of lack of freshness). Filling was pretty good, dipping sauce was standard, with a bit of chili garlic sauce.
We were craving shrimp, and ordered a shrimp special and a second shrimp item from the menu. We told the server "medium" spice. The resulting entrees were bland, and the shrimp, although plentiful, were pretty overcooked and didn't seem fresh (perhaps frozen). The sauces didn't have authentic Thai flavor at all. One tasted faintly of ginger (with no pronounced lemongrass as was indicated in the entree name) and the other was a thin teriyaki-flavored mild (not medium-spicy) weak broth. The strangest choice by the kitchen was to pour our entrees onto beds of sad, yellow iceberg lettuce for service. The entrees and the rice served alongside weren't very hot when served. My dinner date went in search of condiments to jazz up our boring dinners and was offered some chili garlic sauce and a shaker of what smelled and tasted like an bizarre combo of soy and liquid smoke (?).
Our $50+ bill just made matters worse. If you've got a hankering for Thai, just know that this is not the real deal and the food is just so-so. :(
