If you want to feel more relaxed in your life and get a good work out - go to Yoga One in Central. I try my best to go there every Sunday for their $8 class at 2:30pm with Liz Smolin (she recently moved to the Dilworth location). Shane Lucas and Kevin Cross are great instructors too. It's hot yoga at about 85 degrees so you're sweating the entire time. The classes are challenging, yet rewarding, so it keeps me coming back.
When you walk-in, it's a serene ambiance and the front desk people are always so friendly. Their merchandise can be a little pricey but I usually find something good in their sales rack. After you put your shoes & belongings in a cubicle, you'll walk into the yoga studio and put your mat anywhere between the designated spots. Every time I go the instructors introduce themselves if they haven't seen me before or they say 'hello' if they recognize me. I really like that they're all personable.
During class, you're going to sweat ALOT so make sure you hydrate! If you're a beginner, don't worry about messing up too much. There are so many people in the class (between 50-100) so no one will notice. They'll have helpers going around and correcting your pose if need be. The instructors make the poses simple with a vinyasa power flow style & they'll give you variations to suite your level of experience.
In the end (my favorite part), Yoga One gives you these amazing lavender-scented cold towels to use on your face or body while you're in "shavasena" - aka lying flat on your back with the heels spread as wide as the yoga mat and the arms a few inches away from the body, palms facing upwards. It is the most rejuvenating thing ever.
Overall, I always have a great experience at Yoga One on Sundays. It's in my budget to go the $8 classes and it's much needed "me time".
