  • Came here on a cold Saturday morning after the Yelp community began buzzing with reports of the heavenly delights coming from this little takeout window in NoDa. I opted for breakfast dessert (aka I had a great breakfast at NoDa Bodega and needed a little sumthin' sweet to finish it off). The place was buzzing with clients with no real line to speak of like magic. I made it to the window after about 2-4 minutes and was greeted by a face brimming with cheer. I told her it was my first time and she made some great suggestions. I ended up getting the lemon poppy seed and honey glazed. Afterwards, I wished I would've gotten at least 2 more due to the bite-sized nature of these delectable babies. (Think mini-bagged-grocery-store-doughnut-sized) After 5-7 minutes, these babies came out piping hot a ready to devour. They were both very good. But the lemon poppyseed stole the show. They were amazing. Fresh lemon zest and juice and the perfect amount of poppyseeds. Both were a wonderfully executed cake base (sorry yeast donut lovers...no dice here.) While I love a yeasty Krispy Kreme as much as the next person, this baby was a contender in its own right. Airy yet pillowy, not dense at all. Definitely the perfect texture to make a cake donut loving maniac out of any yeast doughnut lover. I thought several times about going back to the window to order more but decided against waiting in the cold a second time. I can't wait to go by and try them again! Warning : These things could easily become addictive. Note: For security purposes, they do not accept cash so be sure to bring yo' plastic and enjoy!
