| - Pretty happening spot that I was able to visit recently while celebrating a friends birthday. From the outside looking in, the space appears to have a sophisticated clean look to it, almost reminiscent of something that you'd find on a King West or near Yorkville. However, once inside the sophistacation mellows out and the cool settles in - it's a cool spot a certain step above many of the slightly grungier spots that can be found on Ossington.
Initially we had the back room which has it's own private bar, but our group found it a tad damp and chilly (almost dungeon-esque) so we moved the party to front and monopolized a fair portion of the space for the remainder of the evening.
In terms of beverages, I was impressed with their beer selection as their was a huge variety and many OCB's for every taste. The IPA I had was mild and easy drinking, while the Stonehammer light was perfect for the latter parts of the evening. At one point, I did order an Old Fashioned which the local "expert" helped to make. It wasn't exactly to my taste (too much alcohol, far too much sugar at the bottom and served over crushed ice), so I must question the bartenders "expert" status.
I did however really enjoyed the way back music mix playing all night. Quite a few of us made mention that we felt like we were back in a grade 7/8 dance, and anytime you can combine nostalgia and booze, good times are certainly to ensue.
3.5 (rounded up) overall, certainly a great place I would return for future Ossington nights out!
