| - Well, here it is, my 500th review! I never thought I'd take this Yelp thing this far, but once I did, I started wondering where my 500th would land me! What better spot for me than the Neon Museum!!
I'm a bit of a Old Soul you might say. A bit nostalgic, reminiscent, a heart for the good ole days you might say. Well, that's what the Neon Museum is all about. Keeping alive the memories of when Vegas, was VEGAS! When the mob and peculiar characters built and ran Vegas. When the Rat Pack would run the streets of downtown and make Fremont their own! Long before the Venetian, Bellagio, TI, Aria, MGM, and the Luxor came along; it was Benny Binion, Oscar Goodman, and other notables that made the town to what it is today. When the Golden Nugget was struggling and had no shark tank a little known man named Steve Wynn stepped in and turned it into the iconic downtown gem it is today!
Here at the Neon Museum, along with Yesco, they're trying their best to preserve that past and keep alive the memories of Las Vegas! Signs that once lit up the Strip, or Fremont, or some random gas station now lives on in the boneyard! Some are restored to their former glory whether at the boneyard or living to see another day on a random pole on Fremont St. Regardless of their current state, they all sit here telling their story of gambling, booze, showgirls, excessive money, celebrities, and the mob. Listening to your guides tell the history of each takes you back to the smell of a smokey casino, Frank doing his thing, the aroma of a good steak, and showgirls working for a tip. Bravo to the Neon Museum for keeping all the memories alive and giving credit to those who probably never got it!
