Over the last year I decided to finally have my late father's Balco Swiss mechanical watch looked at by a professional to see if it could be restored. I did some research and spoke with several vintage watch repair specialists within Ontario and was not impressed with what I heard. I have dealt with outrageously high dial-painting quotes of $300.00 (including annoying follow-up callbacks) to complete apathy regarding my request for service (perhaps because my watch is not a high-end antique). By accident, I found out about Shane Ede.
I felt very comfortable initially talking to him and arranged for a visit. I was extremely impressed the way he disassembled my watch before my eyes and was able to pinpoint the issues with it on the spot. It was ready within a couple of days . Although I picked up my watch only a few hours ago, Shane's work is so extraordinary that I feel compelled to let others know about my experience dealing with him. My watch looks amazing and is functioning perfectly. I don't want to take it off ! Shane is extremely knowledgeable regarding his craft and is extremely personable as well. The biggest surprise were his rates. They are very fair. In addition, he was able to solve several issues regarding 3 quartz watches that I brought in for him to look at during this visit as well. He even discovered an incorrect type battery installed in my wife's Wittnauer dress watch and was able to immediately replace it.
Shane has earned and deserves the title of "Master Watch Maker". He is a true craftsman.
Sincerely, Dave T.
