I'm not really sure what the hype is here. The park looks really dead. The bike roads exist but they have cracks which means if you're walking a kid in a stroller or riding a non-mountain bike, you're going to feel the impact of each and every bump.
Being that this is in Scottsdale, in Arizona, you're not going to be looking at green for most of the year. Who wants to come to a park with mostly dead grass? Most Arizonians I guess...
One thing that is nice about this place that warrants an extra star making 3 total is the presence of ducks on the lake. You see people feeding them every now and then and the ducks like the hydration that the water provides... Hydration is obviously a scarce resource in most desert-y parts of Arizona.
All in all, if you like the desert and mediocre road infrastructure, then check out Chaparral Park. Me? I'll hit somewhere else up with more green and more life.
