| - I'm a fitness instructor and I've spent a billion hours in various gyms throughout the City. To say that I am a Goodlife member doesn't mean Goodlife is the best, but it says something.
We migrated as a family from Extreme Fitness on the Danforth (which was very conveniently located and has a fantastic daycare with fantastic staff in it) to Goodlife at Coxwell & Gerrard because of a bad experience with Extreme. It just became a bit of a farce. We paid about $180 per month for two memberships and every month another machine would bite the dust and not be replaced, or you'd find yourself waiting outside of the gym at 8:20 on Sunday morning when it was supposed to have opened at 8, or you'll e-mail the gym manager directly who will not get back to you for 10 days. Because if we did that in our jobs, we wouldn't be fired, right?
Anyhow, Goodlife has eaten all of the gyms in Toronto and so long as they offer many locations, a fairly good class schedule and reasonable rates, I assume people will continue to go.
There aren't many other gyms in the neighbourhood and although this location is small, it has everything a small neighbourhood gym needs. I also frequent the new Goodlife at 137 Yonge Street and it is like going to workout at Costco, it's huge and overwhelming.
Decent gym, good classes, always clean towels available. You can't really ask for more.
