  • I haven't been to many Charlotte breweries, but I can see why Sycamore has a cult following. In addition to having a super memorable and cute logo, they have a lot of space for large events and a minimalist venue making it a versatile brewery for holding events. Today for the Panther's tailgate, they had Tin kitchen's food truck in the back for hungry folk to annihilate. I'm new to the idea of bars without food offerings inside but I find this model genius; Sycamore itself doesn't have a kitchen, instead has partnerships with local food trucks so that the menu changes every time you come. What is special about them is that they do have a wide array of special brews to choose from, so for the adventurous beer drinker, this is the perfect place for people who get bored of beer that taste just like beer. They have special brunch beer cocktails which seem to change weekly. I haven't tried them personally but they look and sound pretty interesting! Bloody Mary beer cocktail anyone? In particular for fall, I enjoyed their Cinnabun Brown Ale, Sweet Potato Wheat, Pumpkin Latte Blonde, and Gourd Have Mercy Pumpkin Amber. A pint of gourd Have Mercy Pumpkin Amber on a Sunday ran me $6, -not bad. While we watched the Panthers game inside, live music was running outside which was enjoyable once the game ended. I can imagine it being packed for weekly tailgates on days with home games, but when it is not busy, it is a very nice brewery to just sit and relax in. I haven't been here after work yet, but I always see it lit up and populated on the ride home from the light rail. We didn't see any typical backyard games like horseshoe, corn hole or giant Jenga, so I think it's a good place to go for a chill night of hanging out. But when there are special promotions or events going on, you can count on me that I'll be back.
